"At this time in history, with news crashing on upon us from every side - mostly bad news, and some of it frankly scandalous in the extreme, as it reveals the callous complicity with, approbation of, and dedication to evil on the part of many in the hierarchy of the Church, who were supposed to be our guides to holiness and our models of it - nothing could be better than for us to go regularly before the Lord in Adoration. Fair weather or foul, super-busy or at loose ends, it doesn't matter; this is what we should be doing for our Church, for our clergy, for ourselves. This is what Our Lord is waiting for: a sign from us, an unmistakable sign, that we love Him for His own sake, and above all things on earth. When enough of us are taking real steps to love Him in exactly this way - with our whole mind, our whole heart, our whole soul, and our whole strength - we may then count on a new flood of graces inundating the Church." The West, post war, was weary of fighting and it was enjoying the greatest material boom ever in 1950. Ears weren't open to Sheen because the Prince of this world was in full swing seducing people into believing they could have everything they wanted at no cost. The great Muslim invasion had not yet begun; focus was on Jewish resettlement in Israel and the chasing of money however it could be made. Even today people refuse to accept the fact that Muslims think nothing of lying and cheating us dhimmis because it is in the Koran, which they take far more seriously than we do the Bible. By his life of self-renunciation and focus on our true purpose of existence, Sheen was able to see everything clearly, but no one wanted to heed his voice in this matter.
ReplyDeleteRight on target once again Barb. Sad that many still refuse to hear his voice,
DeleteWow, just wow.
ReplyDelete"How different our Church and the world might be today had we listened to a tenth of what he shared"
So true. So sad. Wow.
