PRAYER OF ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA

"Eternal Father, all things are possible for You. Although You created us without our assistance, You will not save us unless we help. Therefore, I pray You re-create their wills so that they wish for what they do not wish for: I ask this of Your infinite mercy. You have created us out of nothing. Now that we exist have mercy on us. Re-make the vessel which You created in Your own image and likeness. Bring them back to Your grace through the grace and blood of You Son, the beloved Jesus Christ."

Prayer for Our Priests

"O dear Jesus, look down with love on your priests. Fill them with burning zeal for the conversion of sinners; keep unstained their anointed hands which daily touch Your Immaculate Body; keep unsullied their lips purpled with Your Precious Blood; keep pure and unearthly a heart sealed with the sublime mark of Your glorious Priesthood. Bless their labors with abundant fruit, and may those to whom they have ministered on earth, be one day their joy and consolation in Heaven. Amen. (From Dominican Prayer Book)

St. Catherine of Siena - Praying With Confidence: "Lord, I shall not move away from Your feet, Your Presence, as long as Your goodness has not conceded to me what I desire, as long as You do not agree to what I ask of You. I want You to promise me eternal life for all those whom I love. Lord put Your hand in mine! Give me proof You shall give me that which I beseech You.”

Eucharistic Reflection - Do I Really Believe That...

September 29, 2026

"The Eucharist is not something casual. It demands reverence. It demands preparation. It demands faith. Perhaps one of the greatest spiritual questions we can ask ourselves before every Mass is: 'Do I really believe that Jesus is here? ' Not intellectually. Not theoretically. But personally. Do I believe that when I walk through those church doors, I am entering sacred space? Do I believe that the tabernacle contains the Real Presence of Jesus Christ? Do I believe that the altar is not merely a table, but the place where the sacrifice of Christ is sacramentally present? Do I believe that Holy Communion is not merely receiving something, but receiving Someone?" ( Father Richard D. Breton f rom The Eucharist: When Heaven Comes Down to Earth , published in the September 17, 2026 issue of The Wanderer )

Eucharistic Reflection – Come to the Tabernacle

March 03, 2015

(Photo©Michael Seagriff) “If you want to experience true peace, come to the Tabernacle. Oh, what love you will feel. My Father waits for you: He waits until you are ready to sit and honor His Son. He waits for you to open your heart: to believe He is there, so that He can give you the warmth of His Love and His Peace. For if you believe I am there, all things are possible. What happened? Your families before you, honored Me. They sat with Me: talked with Me. Churches were full, and because of their love for Me, and the one who sent Me, they did all they could for my Church. A lot has happened in the last 30 [40+] years. I am the same God, yet there is no reverence for Me or my Son. You come with your hands in your pockets, not folded in prayer; children eat, laugh and play in the real presence of my Son. Some look away, as if they don’t know what to do; most don’t know who I am. Come to...

Pondering Tidbits of Truth - October 1, 2026

October 01, 2026

Pondering Tidbits of Truth is my simple and inadequate way of providing nuggets of spiritual wisdom for you to chew on from time to time. Father Richard D. Breton "The Eucharist...challenges us to ask how we are giving ourselves to others. A Catholic cannot receive the Body of Christ and then refuse to become a gift to his family, his parish, his neighbor or the person who needs mercy. The Eucharist sends us forth. We come to the altar empty. We receive Christ. And we are sent back into the world to bring Christ with us. This is why Eucharistic devotion cannot end when Mass ends. The Church gives us the beautiful gift of Eucharistic adoration because the Eucharistic Lord remains with us. The tabernacle is not a decorative piece of furniture. It is a place of encounter. Jesus is there, waiting quietly and patiently for us." (From The Eucharist: When Heaven Comes Down to Earth , published in the September 17, 2026 issue of The Wanderer ) Dorothy Day, Servant of God "When ...

It's "Worth Revisiting Wednesday" - Who Will Step Up This Christmas and Speak the Truth in Love?

December 09, 2015

Thank you Allison Gingras and Elizabeth Riordan, for extending a weekly invitation to Catholic bloggers to re-post their favorite articles on It’s "Worth Revisiting” Wednesday. Do yourself a favor- go there now (and every Wednesday). During the rest of each week. be sure to visit Allison at Reconciled To You and Elizabeth at Theology Is A Verb . This is what I am offering this week. Guess you can say I am persistent if not always effective.... Who Will Step Up This Christmas and Speak the Truth in Love? (Originally posted December 9, 2014) [This is one of the two times each year when, I believe, our Lord most dreads the silence that will envelop far too many of our parishes. Someone needs to give voice to His yearnings. Where is the zeal for the salvation of souls? What follows is similar to some of my previous posts on this subject.] Image Source: Wikimedia Commons ) Let us welcome with open arms the thousands who will flock to o...

Pondering Tidbits of Truth - March 25, 2020

March 25, 2020

Pondering Tidbits of Truth is my simple and inadequate way of providing nuggets of spiritual wisdom for you to chew on from time to time. Christine Watkins “For now, there is only one thing that is needed: to love God with all that we have, and to lover others as ourselves. If our day is spent in turmoil over tomorrow, our Father’s will has vanished in the clouds of worry.” (From Mary’s Mantle Consecration ) Father R. Garrigou-LaGrange, O.P. "Preparation for the life of prayer depends not only on humility, but also on mortification...if our minds are preoccupied with worldly interests and affairs, and our souls agitated by too human an affection, by jealousy, by the memory of wrongs done to us by our neighbor, or by rash judgments, we shall not be able to converse with our Lord. If in the course of the day we criticize our superiors or fail in docility toward them, when evening comes we shall hardly be likely to find the presen...
