Harvesting The Fruits of Contemplation

"All men’s miseries derive from not being able to sit in a quiet room alone." ~ Blaise Pascal

A PERMANENT QUESTION

"When we spend time with Jesus we become like Him. Why are we not encouraged to do so?"

PRAYER OF ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA

"Eternal Father, all things are possible for You. Although You created us without our assistance, You will not save us unless we help. Therefore, I pray You re-create their wills so that they wish for what they do not wish for: I ask this of Your infinite mercy. You have created us out of nothing. Now that we exist have mercy on us. Re-make the vessel which You created in Your own image and likeness. Bring them back to Your grace through the grace and blood of You Son, the beloved Jesus Christ."

The Fatima Chaplet of Adoration and Reparation

PRAYER TO BE PRESERVED FROM SUDDEN DEATH

MOST AMIABLE JESUS "I humbly implore Thee by Thy ignominious Scourging, The Crowning with Thorns, Thy Holy Cross, and by all Thy Goodness, not to permit me to pass out of this world without having received Thy most holy Sacraments." -Prayer of St. Vincent Ferrer

LET US NEVER FORGET

"For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light." - Luke 8:17

God's Magnificent Creation

St. Catherine of Siena - Praying With Confidence: "Lord, I shall not move away from Your feet, Your Presence, as long as Your goodness has not conceded to me what I desire, as long as You do not agree to what I ask of You. I want You to promise me eternal life for all those whom I love. Lord put Your hand in mine! Give me proof You shall give me that which I beseech You.”

Pondering Tidbits of Truth is my simple and inadequate way of providing nuggets of spiritual wisdom for you to chew on from time to time. Father Richard D. Breton "The Eucharist...challenges us to ask how we are giving ourselves to others. A Catholic cannot receive the Body of Christ and then refuse to become a gift to his family, his parish, his neighbor or the person who needs mercy. The Eucharist sends us forth. We come to the altar empty. We receive Christ. And we are sent back into the world to bring Christ with us. This is why Eucharistic devotion cannot end when Mass ends. The Church gives us the beautiful gift of Eucharistic adoration because the Eucharistic Lord remains with us. The tabernacle is not a decorative piece of furniture. It is a place of encounter. Jesus is there, waiting quietly and patiently for us." (From The Eucharist: When Heaven Comes Down to Earth , published in the September 17, 2026 issue of The Wanderer ) Dorothy Day, Servant of God "When ...

Monday Musings - Blessed Fulton Sheen - Too Bad This Did Not Happen

October 05, 2026

Finally, after far too long of a delay, Archbishop Fulton J Sheen has been beatified. Pray God that his canonization will follow in short order! There can be no better example for our priests and those men discerning a priestly vocation to follow than Blessed Fulton Sheen's practice of making a Holy Hour in the Presence of the Blessed Sacrament every day! How many of our bishops, priests and seminarians have followed Sheen's advice? If Blessed Fulton Sheen preached the homily at his own beatification Mass, what might he have had to say about this issue? This is exactly what Kevin Wells asked himself. Please! You must read his post, Fulton Sheen's Last Word, published by Crisis Magazine on September 30, 2026. You will find it in its entirety here. We need fearless and faithful shepherds unafraid to speak and teach the Truth and to challenge their brethren when they fail to do so. Thank you Mr. Wells for giving us a taste of what the good Archbish...

Pondering Tidbits of Truth - September 17, 2026

September 17, 2026

Pondering Tidbits of Truth is my simple and inadequate way of providing nuggets of spiritual wisdom for you to chew on from time to time. Peter Kreeft "There are only two persons you can never, ever escape, not for one moment, either in time or in eternity: God and yourself." (From How to Be Holy: First Steps in Becoming a Saint ) Father Charles Arminjon “In truth, if the earth and all it contains must one day disappear by fire, the goods of this world are no more to be esteemed than wood and straw. What point is there, then, in making them the object of our desires and cares? Why seek to build and leave marks of our genius and power where we have no permanent abode, and where the form of this world will be removed, like a tent that has no travelers to shelter? It may be said that it will be a thousand years before this frightening cata...
