Monday Musings - Catholics In Name Only?

Honesty dictates that we who profess to be Catholic and followers of Jesus Christ must acknowledge our responsibility for the sorry state of the world today. Had we not remained silent in the face of evil and had we lived what we profess to believe, our world would be totally different.

These are indeed difficult and troubling times.

Ponder these challenging words uttered by Korean martyr and priest, St. Andrew Kim Taegon, more than one hundred and seventy years ago:

What a timely reminder!

Since we were unwilling to live and defend the Truths of our faith when doing so was relatively easy and without adverse consequences, we must make amends now and beg God for the grace to be willing to suffer for standing firmly at His side.

  1. I have gotten to wondering if we are talking to the wall when we implore and warn and exhort and challenge our Christian brethren to live AND TO VOTE according to godly principles. And yet so many in the pews vote passionately for people who spit in Christ's face with their entrenched positions on such critical issues as abortion and sexual perversions. How can it be that their hatred of President Trump so trumped (no pun intended) their reasonable service for Christ and voted to continue the killing and the perversion of even school children? No wonder the Lord Jesus threatened to vomit the church at Laodicea out of His mouth. (Revelation 3)

PRAYER TO BE PRESERVED FROM SUDDEN DEATH

MOST AMIABLE JESUS "I humbly implore Thee by Thy ignominious Scourging, The Crowning with Thorns, Thy Holy Cross, and by all Thy Goodness, not to permit me to pass out of this world without having received Thy most holy Sacraments." -Prayer of St. Vincent Ferrer

PRAYER OF ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA

"Eternal Father, all things are possible for You. Although You created us without our assistance, You will not save us unless we help. Therefore, I pray You re-create their wills so that they wish for what they do not wish for: I ask this of Your infinite mercy. You have created us out of nothing. Now that we exist have mercy on us. Re-make the vessel which You created in Your own image and likeness. Bring them back to Your grace through the grace and blood of You Son, the beloved Jesus Christ."
