Pondering Tidbits of Truth
is my simple and inadequate way of providing nuggets of spiritual wisdom for
you to chew on from time to time.
Christine Watkins
“Our worry literally binds God’s hands. But every act of
complete, blind trust unties them, causing the best effect possible, for God
can accomplish what no human being is capable of. It is when we truly release
our worries to the Lord and rest our head on His lap in peace, that He can work
for us the most glorious of miracles.”
(From Mary’s Mantle Consecration)
Archbishop Luis Martinez
"No philosophy will never teach us to love pain; only eternal Love can infuse such love into our souls. Before pain can be loved, it must be transmuted into love, and Jesus alone has succeeded in doing this. To love the Cross, we must see Jesus on it and understand the personal and indestructible ties that bind Him to it. To love the Cross, we must experience the sweet and strong attraction that Jesus crucified exercises over our souls, as He Himself promised: 'And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all thing to myself". Man, abandoned to himself, hates nothing so much as pain; when the fire of the Holy Spirit burns within his soul, there is nothing he loves so intensely."
(From True Devotion to the Holy Spirit)
St. Paul of the Cross
"You should regard the
person that tries your patience as a treasure. Look upon her with an
affectionate eye, as an instrument which God uses to clothe your soul with a
garment of gold and pearls; that is, with the virtues, and especially with the
patience, the silence, and the meekness of Christ. Oh, how much I cherish the
trials which come to you through that person! Do not defend yourself, do not
speak, or, if you say anything, let it be to excuse her and honor her. When you
pass by her, bow your head respectfully as before an instrument in the paternal
hand of God."
