Pondering Tidbits of Truth - August 14, 2014

Pondering Tidbits of Truth is my simple and inadequate way of providing nuggets of spiritual wisdom for you to chew on from time to time.

St. Augustine

“We should hear the Gospel as if Our Lord were present and speaking to us. We must not say ‘happy were those who could see him’, for many of those who saw him crucified him; and many of those who have not seen him have believed in him. The very words that came from Our Lord’s lips were written down and kept and preserved for us.”

 Father Hillary Ottensmeyer, OSB

"Until you are convinced that prayer is the best use of your time, you will not find time for prayer."

Frank Morriss

"The sublimity of the priest involves the altar and the Eucharist. Each day he mounts with Christ to Calvary, and brings back to the faithful the life-giving bread without which souls will starve and wither. It is not a little charade; it is not a sign or a catering to man’s hunger for a liturgy. It is far more than that. It is the reality of Christ Himself in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. God needs priests to convey that reality in an actual manner to mankind and mankind respects priests for their response to that calling."

  1. I love the Ottensmeyer quote. What is the best use of my time right now? Even if it is washing dishes with Jesus in mind, it is praying.
