Sunday Snippets - October 6, 2013

(Courtyard- Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center
 Norwood, OH)
It's almost Sunday and time to join an interesting group of Catholic bloggers at RAnn's place where you are sure to find something of value. Take a few minutes and visit!

This week's question: Have you tried the Liturgy of the Hours? As a Lay Dominican I  pray Morning (Lauds) Evening (Vespers) and Night (Compline) prayers. At the beginning, it was a bit confusing (and still is sometimes) but it has brought such a rhythm to my day I would be lost without it. The I-Breviary app simplifies the entire process - no turning pages and getting lost. Try it; you will like it!

Here are three of the five entries I posted this past week:

Monday Musings - Follow His Promptings!

The Eucharist and the Rosary - Our Spiritual Armament

Rosary Reflection - St. Pio Pietrelcina

  1. Michael,
Do you know what I mean as "Godincidence?" Remember the cross at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center. Do you remember where the inspiration for that cross came from. Read http://catholicexchange.com/in-the-land-of-crosses/

Yes, I do. Thank you for the Catholic Exchange reference and the video you posted on your blog. Most especially thank you for pointing out this devotion to me while we were at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center.
You and God have gotten my attention. This is one devotion I intend to further explore.

    Mike

PRAYER TO BE PRESERVED FROM SUDDEN DEATH

MOST AMIABLE JESUS "I humbly implore Thee by Thy ignominious Scourging, The Crowning with Thorns, Thy Holy Cross, and by all Thy Goodness, not to permit me to pass out of this world without having received Thy most holy Sacraments." -Prayer of St. Vincent Ferrer

PRAYER OF ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA

"Eternal Father, all things are possible for You. Although You created us without our assistance, You will not save us unless we help. Therefore, I pray You re-create their wills so that they wish for what they do not wish for: I ask this of Your infinite mercy. You have created us out of nothing. Now that we exist have mercy on us. Re-make the vessel which You created in Your own image and likeness. Bring them back to Your grace through the grace and blood of You Son, the beloved Jesus Christ."
