In These Trying Times - Seeking the Intercession of Our Blessed Mother

As common sense, rational discourse, moral standards, respect for life from conception to natural death, and an unswerving  belief in, and filial fear of, God are no longer the prevailing principles that unite our society or motivate the personal conduct of so many of its citizens, it is incumbent upon those who still hold firmly to these truths, to practice, share and defend them.

We cannot, of course, do this on our own but only by and through the grace of the Lord we love and serve, and, as Pope Pius XI reminded us in 1931, with the assistance of our Blessed Mother:

". . . let us trust to her [Blessed Mother Mary] confidently all that is ours -  joys, if we rejoice; woes, if we are in trial; hopes, if we endeavor to rise to nobler things. If the Church falls on difficult times; if faith wanes and charity grows cold; if morals, private and public, deteriorate; if any danger threatens the Catholic cause or civil society, let us have recourse to her, begging help from heaven; and in the supreme trial of death, when all hope, all help, is gone, let us lift up our eyes in tears and trembling, imploring through her pardon from her Son and eternal joy in heaven."

(From the Encyclical - Lux Veritatis)
