Eucharistic Reflection – The August Prisoner
"If souls understood what
treasure they possess in the divine Eucharist, it would be necessary to
protect tabernacles with impregnable ramparts; because, in the delirium of a
holy and devouring hunger, they would go themselves to feed on the Manna of the
Seraphim. Churches, at night as in daytime, would overflow with worshipers
wasting away with love for the august prisoner."'
(Blessed Dina Belanger as quoted by Father Florian
Racini in Could You Not Watch With Me One
Hour-How to Cultivate a Deeper Relationship with the Lord through Eucharistic
Adoration)
Non-Catholics have remarked that if they really believed in the Real Presence they would crawl up the aisles on their hands and knees to approach the Lord. They don't understand how Catholics who do believe can treat Our Lord with such casual indifference.

ReplyDeleteSad but true.
If we really believe our Lord is present, we would act in a manner where that belief would be evident to anyone who observed us. Yet, attempts to address this pressing issue are often not welcomed. God bless all that you to foster greater reverence for and belief in His Real Physical Presence among us.
Michael, even believing, it is hard to comprehend. We believe the stars dot the heavens, but how little we know of them. We believe there are spiral nebulae and black holes, but we can little more than wonder at them. The Eucharist is God and awe is only the beginning.
